The Story :

The Earth narrowly escaped extinction following a dreadfull alien Invasion. From the ashes of a ravaged world, humanity's thirst for vengeance has given rise to a new conflict. In Astral Crusade: Retro Reborn you are the pilot of the most lethal craft known to man. You are the instrument or humanity collective rage, tearing through the cosmos with a singulare purpose: retribution. As you pilot your ship through hostile alien realms, every shot fired is a testament to the pain endured by humankind. The stage is set for a cosmic vendetta; in this ballet of brutality, only the vengeful shall write history.

Astral Crusade is a side scrolling Shoot'em up for the original Gameboy.

Update 0.3.2, september 2025

New power : the explosive shoot. This huge missile can go through enemies shoots dealing massive damage to aliens. The resulting explosion can destroy multiple targets at once.

Switch power in game. Use select to switch between available powers.

Development :

Astral Crusade started in mid january 2024. It's a one man project written in C with GBDK. The idea behind Astral Crusade is to build a side scrolling SHMUP with a bit of rogue lite feel. Before each level the player can spend hard earn credits to boost his spacecraft. The goal is to offer game style choices : would you play a quick hightech and fragile spacecraft or rather a slow, powerfull and resistant spacecraft. This is only one exemple.
